Nursing Informatics Salary 2013 Connecticut

As formerly described in another post, nursing informatics salaries are different by a number of circumstances particularly, location, position title, education background,  size of hospital, software in use, etc.

In the graph below, I have collected up to date data from indeed.com, salary.com, and simplyhired.com, in an effort to convey a realistic picture of what a person employed in the nursing informatics arena actually earns, according to salaries listed by these career sites.

Although the widely acclaimed 2011 HIMSS Nursing Informatics workforce survey is, in my opinion, idealistic in reporting that the average salary in the US is hitting a 98k high, the statistics for most most states show a different reality.

Connecticut is one of the few states where you will see a higher average when compared to others states as the median average borders around $82,729, and the highest salary averages close to $102,017.

Nonetheless, even though the averages are higher in CT, we still see that the median average falls way below the HIMSS average of $98,702.

Average Nursing Informatics Salaries in Connecticut

To obtain the data above, I used salary.com as a reference, since in my experience, their salaries tend to be very close to what I have seen across different cities in the USA.

We see the low salary average, the median salary average and the high salary average for nursing informatics positions across different cities in Connecticut.

Below those figures, we have the HIMSS inflated nursing informatics salary average of $98,702.

The next two bars show average salaries for jobs that have the title Nursing Informatics Specialist (NI1*), and the other bar shows jobs that have the KEYWORD Nursing Informatics (NI2*).

This means that if a job is advertised as “Nursing Informatics Clinical Director,” and another job is advertised as “Nursing Informatics Entry-Level Trainer,” then both salaries will be average since both titles have the keyword “nursing informatics.”

What the indeed.com salaries on the graph show is that many times even average salaries won’t give us a realistic picture of what salary to expect out there.

Finally we have the simplyhired.com salary average for nursing informatics in CT.
