Nursing Informatics Salary 2013 Montana

As already explained in a prior post, nursing informatics salaries can change by a variety of reasons in particular, job location, education background, position title, software in use, size of hospital, etc.

In the graph shown below, I have collected recent data from indeed.com, salary.com, and simplyhired.com, in an effort to offer a realistic picture of what a person working in the nursing informatics domain actually earns, based on salaries listed by these career internet sites.

While the widely referenced 2011 HIMSS Nursing Informatics workforce survey statesthat the average salary in the US hovers around 98k, the data for Montana clearly shows another story.

In the case of Montana, you will find that the median average salary hovers around $53,627, and the highest salary averages about $66,130.

If the HIMSS survey were to be accurate, we would see higher averages in all these ranges, yet this is clearly not what we see!

Average Nursing Informatics Salaries in Montana

To obtain the data above, I used salary.com as a reference, since in my experience, their salaries tend to be very close to what I have seen across different cities in the USA.

We see the low salary average, the median salary average and the high salary average for nursing informatics positions across different cities in Montana.

Below those figures, we have the HIMSS inflated nursing informatics salary average of $98,702.

The next two bars show average salaries for jobs that have the title Nursing Informatics Specialist (NI1*), and the other bar shows jobs that have the KEYWORD Nursing Informatics (NI2*).

This means that if a job is advertised as “Nursing Informatics Clinical Director,” and another job is advertised as “Nursing Informatics Entry-Level Trainer,” then both salaries will be average since both titles have the keyword “nursing informatics.”

What the indeed.com salaries on the graph show is that many times even average salaries won’t give us a realistic picture of what salary to expect out there.

Finally we have the simplyhired.com salary average for nursing informatics.
